（2025年10月10日）トランプ米国大統領宛て被爆地訪問要請文

アメリカ合衆国大統領　ドナルド・トランプ　閣下

謹啓　清秋の候、貴台にはますます御清祥のことと心からお喜び申し上げます。
　この度、日米両政府によって、本年10月31日から韓国で開催されるアジア太平洋経済協力会議（APEC）首脳会議に合わせ、貴台の日本訪問を調整中であるとの報に接しました。
　本年1月にも、貴台の被爆地訪問を要請したところですが、訪日が実現するのであれば、是非この機会に、被爆地広島・長崎を訪問していただきますよう、重ねてお願い申し上げます。

　広島・長崎への原子爆弾の投下、また第二次世界大戦の終結から80年が経過した今、国際社会における対立と分断は深まり、世界各地で戦火が続いています。そのような中で、「核兵器は使ってはならない」という国際社会の人道的な規範が大きく揺らぎ、核兵器使用のリスクが一層高まっています。

　同時に、「こんな思いを他の誰にもさせてはならない」と、自らの壮絶な体験を語り、核兵器廃絶を訴えてきた被爆者の平均年齢は86歳を超え、「被爆者のいない時代」が刻一刻と近づいています。
　こうした人類の重要な岐路にある今だからこそ、核超大国の大統領である貴台に被爆地を訪問していただき、被爆者の声に直接耳を傾け、きのこ雲の下で何が起きたのか、核兵器の使用がいかに非人道的な結末をもたらすのかを、心で感じ取っていただきたく存じます。
　その上で、核兵器は決して使ってはならないとの信念をより強固にしていただき、「核兵器のない世界」の実現に向けた揺るぎない決意を被爆地から発信していただければ、核兵器廃絶への国際的な機運を再び取り戻す大きな力になると確信しています。

　また、貴台には、来年開催されるNPT（核兵器不拡散条約）再検討会議において、核軍縮の進展に向けた具体的道筋を示すべく、リーダーシップを発揮していただくことを期待しております。

Dear Mr. President,

We hope this letter finds you in the best of health and spirits.

We have become aware that the U.S. and Japanese governments are making arrangements for you to visit Japan in conjunction with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit that will be held in South Korea starting October 31, 2025.

Although we have already made a joint request for your visit to the atomic-bombed cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in January of this year, should your visit to Japan become certain, we would like to reiterate our request and ask you to seize this opportunity to visit our cities.

Eighty years have passed since the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the end of World War II, and today we are seeing deepening confrontation and divisions among the international community, as warfare continues in various parts of the world. This critical situation has greatly shaken the humanitarian norm in the international community that “nuclear weapons must never be used,” heightening the risk of another nuclear weapon being used.

All the while, the atomic bomb survivors, or hibakusha, have continued to share their traumatic experiences and advocate for the abolition of nuclear weapons, resolving never to allow anyone to go through the same suffering. However, their average age has now surpassed 86. We are inching closer and closer to an era where hibakusha are no longer with us.

At this critical juncture for humanity, we would like to ask you, the President of a nuclear superpower, to visit the atomic-bombed cities, listen to the voices of the hibakusha, and take to heart what unfolded under the mushroom cloud as well as the inhumane consequences brought on by the use of nuclear weapons.

Through this experience, we hope that you will strengthen your conviction that nuclear weapons must never be used, and share with the world your unwavering commitment towards a world without nuclear weapons as you stand in cities devastated by atomic bombings. We believe that this would become a powerful force to rebuild international momentum towards the abolition of nuclear weapons.

Furthermore, we have high expectations that you will demonstrate your leadership at the next year’s Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) by showing a concrete pathway towards the abolition of nuclear weapons.

In closing, please allow us to express our heartfelt wishes for your continued success in your endeavors and your good health.
